CPCPWT4023 - Commission and maintain hot and heated water temperature control devices
- for plumbers

Thermostatic mixer valves are devices are used in a wide variety of areas including: restaurants, nursing homes, pre-schools, and other commercial applications. Thermostatic Mixing Valves maintain and limit the mixed hot water to a desirable, selectable temperature allowing for the storage of domestic hot water at the higher temperatures necessary to reduce the risk of Legionella growth in the system.

How often are TMV’s required to be serviced?

As a plumber, it's these questions that bring back regular income. TMV’s are generally watermarked against AS4032.1. This Australian Standard then refers to AS4032.3 Requirements for field testing, maintenance or replacement of TMV’s. The standard states that TMV’s are to be field tested at intervals of not more than 12 months; a record of test results and repairs shall be provided in accordance with AS4032.3 Appendix B; a management system shall be established to ensure the devices are tested and maintained in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements, AS4032.3 and the manufacturer’s instructions. Thermostatic actuators shall be replaced at intervals not exceeding 5 years. The replacement and lubrication of dynamic ‘o’ rings and seals at intervals not exceeding 5 years or at shorter intervals as required by the manufacturer. TMV’s are required to be commissioned by a technically competent and qualified person - this is where you come in!

CPCPWT4022 - Commission and maintain backflow prevention devices
 - for plumbers

Backflow prevention devices and Reduced Pressure Zone valves are used to protect water supplies from contamination or pollution due to backflow. In water supply systems, water is normally maintained at a significant pressure to enable water to flow from the tap, shower, or other fixture. Water pressure may fail or be reduced when a water main bursts, pipes freeze, or there is unexpectedly high demand on the water system (for example, when several fire hydrants are opened). Reduced pressure in the pipe may allow contaminated water from the soil, from storage, or from other sources to be drawn up into the system.

This backflow prevention course will allow you to apply for accreditation from Sydney water to install, commission and maintain backflow prevention solutions.

Disconnect Reconnect Course

The disconnect reconnect course (or limited/restricted electrical licence) enables you to temporarily remove and reinstall appliances, motors and hot water heaters. Unlike most courses out there, this three day course gives you national accreditation in all 3 aspects. On top of this, you will be eligible to apply for test and tag accreditation upon completion.

Test and Tag

This course is currently only offered as an optional upgrade as a part of the Disconnect Reconnect Course. If you would like a custom test and tag class for your staff, give us a call and we can discuss.
