What's involved?

1. Free Skills Assessment

You need to have valid industry experience in order to qualify for this RPL program. When you first touch base, we will help you identify your skills and advise on whether this qualification is right for you. As a rule of thumb if you have more than 2 years experience in your field, then you are likely to be eligible.

2. Evidence Portfolio
  • Valid Identification
  • list showing relevant employment history
  • work samples and documents (such as tender documents, invoices, quotations, plans, sketches etc)
  • letter of employment
  • reference letters from licensed plumbers you have worked with
  • photos and videos of your work
  • overseas qualifications
  • related licenses, short courses, accreditation, certificates, transcripts or assessments you have attained
  • Apprenticeship papers (if available)
3. Skills Check
  1. You will be having a conversation covering questions for each unit with our qualified assessor
  2. The assessor may choose to also perform a practical observation.
  3. Where gap training is required, you will need to complete theory or practical assessments as required. Theory components can be completed from home and practical components can be completed at your work site.
4. Qualified!

All certificates are Nationally Recognised and issued by a Qualify Me! partner college. Now you can grab that licence!

Scope of work

  • Water Plumbing involves work of water supply (being the construction, alteration, extension, disconnection, removal, maintenance, repair, renewal or clearing of any pipes or fittings of any water service connecting or intending to connect, directly or indirectly with a water main) including such work on pipes and fittings, whether or not connected or intended to be connected to a water main, that are in a building in which any part of the sewerage service is connected to an onsite wastewater management system.

  • Draining Work involves work of sanitary drainage being the construction, alteration, extension, disconnection, removal, maintenance, repair, renewal, ventilation, flushing or cleansing of any sanitary drain connecting, or intended to connect, directly or indirectly with a sewer. This includes work on a house drain connected to an onsite wastewater management system

Qualifications required

CPC32413 Certificate III in Plumbing including the draining stream

  • Gasfitting Work involves the installation, alteration, extension or repair of a gas installation, the installation, alteration, extension, removal or repair of any flue, the connection of a gas installation to, or the disconnection of a gas installation from, a gas supply point, the connection of a gas appliance to, or the disconnection of a gas appliance from, a gas installation (otherwise than where the point of connection is a gas outlet socket), the connection of a gas container, gas regulator or gas appliance to, or the disconnection of a gas container, gas regulator or gas appliance from, a gas installation (otherwise than where it is readily designed to be detachable from the installation, either with the use of a tool, mechanical force, or otherwise).

  • LP gasfitting work (for restricted LP gasfitting work) is gasfitting work as defined by the Gas Supply Act 1996 but restricted to a gas installation designed to carry liquefied petroleum gas in vapour phase only at pressures not exceeding 150 kilopascals.

Liquefied petroleum gas means a liquid or gaseous substance that is a mixture of hydrocarbons, basically consisting of butane or butene or propane or propene, or any mixture of them

Scope of work

Installing, commissioning, maintaining and testing plumbing and drainage services in all classes of buildings and premises, including but not limited to, the following:

  • compressed air, heating, steam, vacuum or ventilation systems
  • irrigation
  • metal fascias and gutters
  • on-site domestic waste water management systems
  • roof and wall cladding
  • skylights
  • fire hydrants, with or without pumps
  • fire hose reels, with or without pumps
  • Prepare plans and specifications for plumbing and drainage work if the plans and specifications are:
    • for the licensee’s personal use, or
    • for use in plumbing and drainage work to be performed by the licensee personally

    Hi. I am a Plumbing contractor based in Ipoh Malaysia. I am interested to attend the certification course and would like more information about it :

    a. Cost of the course
    b. Frequency or available dates in 2017 for the course.

      This course will set the path towards your plumbing contractor’s licence. This is generally a pre-requisite for all plumbing works.

    Hi I am interested in getting my gas licence back as I let it lapse I have had a plumbing and gas licence previously and I still have a open plumbing licence and am working as a plumbing supervisor how do I go about getting a gas licence the cost involved and what evidence do I need to produce

      Hi Ken,

      First we must establish whether you are eligible for this RPL program. If so, then this process will depend on how long it takes you to provide the required evidence and documents. After all requirements are met, it will receive your Certificate within 4 weeks.

    I have level 3 AQF certificate with almost ten year experience in building, which include plumbing also but I worked overseas. currently I am residing here in Australia decide to get qualification for plumbing too; is it possible that I can apply for it?
