23 Nov Certificate IV in Aged Care
Certificate IV in Ageing Support (formally Certificate IV in Aged Care) is specifically targeted at people who currently work in the aged care industry or who are responsible for providing aged care on a daily basis.
This course of study will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to provide safe, secure and effective care to elderly people who have complex needs, be it in a nursing facility, hostel or home environment. Students who successfully complete this qualification will also have the expertise required to enhance independence and encourage community participation for the elderly.
The Australian population is ageing at a rapid rate and as a direct result of this, there is an increasing need for trained staff that can meet the complex needs of elderly people. To this end, the Australian government is currently encouraging practising nurses to pursue aged care so that they have the skills needed to administer medication, manage teams of staff and develop effective care plans for members of the elderly population.
Students who complete this qualification will have a diverse set of skills and knowledge that will help them provide personalised care to elderly people in various settings including care facilities, residential settings, retirement and nursing homes, and hospitals. They will also be ideally suited to a future career in a supervisory position.
Qualify Me! provides continuing education students with access to flexible learning solutions that meet their needs. If you have strong work experience or have undergone prior training in a specialist area, you may qualify for recognised prior learning (RPL), which will allow you to receive credits in acknowledgement of your existing knowledge and understanding.
