This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who have a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops, or to run a small business in these sectors.

Course Details

Entry Requirements & Pre-Requisites
  • Students must have sufficient literacy and language English skills and may be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment prior to undertaking training to ensure they have the required skills to undertake training at this level
  • For online delivery you will require access to a computer, internet connection and email, appropriate software (Microsoft Word and Excel or similar) and range of commonly used business equipment (photocopier, faxes, binder, telephone, answering machine)
  • You may be required to access an actual workplace or simulated environment to under some assessment tasks depending on the elective units selected

There are no pre-requisite units for this qualification.

Unit Outline

33 units must be completed:

 

  • 26 core units
  • 7 elective units, consisting of:
  • 7 units from the list below, elsewhere in the SIT Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course

 

The selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome sought, local industry requirements and the complexity of skills appropriate to the AQF level of this qualification.

    Hi there,
    I am not sure it’s a right place to enquire or not about a skill assessment ofRPL certificates, but I would like to ask that how we do a skill assessment for the candidates who have gained RPL certificates of certificate Iv in commercial cookery under diploma level in hospitality management sector.
    I would like to know and want to do a skill assessment of certificate Iv in commercial cookey as I am currently in working visa and it’s been more than 1 year, what should I do for a skill assessment for this ceritificate? What’s the process of doing it ?
    It would be great if you could let me know about it.
