The Construction RPL program provides an introduction to the construction industry, its culture, occupations, job roles and workplace expectations. The qualification is built around a basic construction project unit that integrates the skills and embeds the facets of employability skills in context.The units of competency cover essential work health and safety requirements, the industrial and work organisation structure, communication skills, work planning, and basic use of tools and materials.
The construction scope of work includes but is not limited to handling construction materials, use construction tools and equipment, undertake a basic construction project, prepare to work safely in the construction industry, apply basic levelling procedures and undertake a basic computer design project.
At least 2 years relevant industry experience in a wide range of Construction work with a licensed Builder.

According to NSW Fair Trading, tradies applying for a license must have the relevant industry knowledge and experience and have completed:
1) CPC10111 Certificate I in Construction or
2) CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction
Including the following additional Units:
- CPCCCM2004A Handle construction materials; and
- CPCCCM1011A Undertake basic estimation and costing; and
- CPCCCO2013A Carry out concreting to simple forms
