The Engineering - Fabrication Trade RPL program defines the skills and knowledge required of an engineering tradesperson - fabrication within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries. This qualification is designed to provide an industry recognised skills profile related to trade work as an Engineering Tradesperson - Fabrication.
The Engineering- Fabrication Trade scope of work includes but is not limited to performing engineering measurements, perform computations, perform soft soldering, perform routine oxy fuel gas welding, carry out mechanical cutting, perform brazing and/or silver soldering, perform manual heating and thermal cutting, perform advanced manual thermal cutting, gouging and shaping, apply fabrication, forming and shaping techniques, assemble fabricated components and monitor quality of production welding/fabrications.
At least 2 years relevant industry experience in a wide range of Metal Fabrication/Welding work with a licensed person.

According to NSW Fair Trading, tradies who specialise in Metal Fabrication and are looking to apply for a license must have the relevant industry knowledge and experience and have completed one of the following qualifications:
1) MEM30319 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or
2) CPC31120 Certificate III in Steel Fixing or
3) CPC30320 Certificate III in Concreting
